Our 3 Kete

The principles that guide your childs education at

Te Whai Hiringa can be found in our 3 Kete.

At Te Whai Hiringa we have an overarching principle for learning, behaviour and belonging which is called our 3 Kete. These Kete have 3 very individual and specific meanings which are followed and understood by our students, whanau and staff.  Māramatanga - I Think, Manaakitanga - I Care, Whanaungatanga - I Belong.  We encourage our students to identify with all aspects of each kete and for them to become second nature to the way they behave and treat others. These principles are important values to not only follow but to live by beyond their years at Te Whai Hiringa.  We uphold our 3 Kete in everything we do at Te Whai Hiringa and they are proudly displayed around our school and in every classroom.  We have Kete awards that are certificates given to students at our school assembly for those children who have been seen to be representing our 3 kete and what they stand for.  Our staff also have kete awards to encourage our teachers and support staff to always be looking for the good in each other and celebrate our achievements.
